Wailord, which first appeared in the Hoenn region of the 3rd generation, is a floating collection of fun facts!

Firstly, it's an absolutely monstrous Pokémon, not only in size; with a base HP value of 170, it comfortably ranks among the top 10 Pokémon with the highest HP value in all regions where it appears; in some, even reaching 4th place! It can also learn the water-type attack Scalding, which reaches a maximum of 150 damage points at full HP. This fact, coupled with Wailord's high HP and decent defense values, allows it, with an item like Choice Scarf, to outspeed many opponents and inflict enormous damage – its HP also gives it considerable reserves before the attack becomes inefficient, calculated using the formula 150 × Max. HP ÷ HP when used.

Finally, because Wailord is a truly enormous Pokémon and due to a mistake on the part of Game Freak, its density is lower than that of water or even air. To avoid simply sailing towards the horizon, it would have to constantly consume approximately 55.36 kg of food, according to a report from the University of Leicester!
